Born in Hakodate, Japan, Yo Masui moved to Oregon to study English in the 8th grade. He attended LIFE Bible College in California and holds a master's degree from Azusa Pacific University. In 1998 Yo returned to his hometown in Japan and was appointed associate pastor of Hakodate Zion Foursquare Church; he was appointed senior pastor in 2009. In 2004, based on his heart for training leaders, nurturing church staff and serving in youth ministry, Yo began a youth-oriented bilingual worship service called ZIF (Zion International Fellowship). He has served the Foursquare denomination as overseas missions director, lecturer at the Kanto Foursquare Bible College and volunteer at an orphanage, and has participated in mission trips, prison ministry and other activities in the community. Yo currently is serving his second term as the Foursquare national leader of Japan. He and his wife, Asako, have a daughter, Layna, and two sons, Joe and Kay. Yo is a black belt in full-contact karate and is an assistant instructor.
